Five transformation questions to consider before September

Hello,

September usually brings the pace back.

More meetings. More decisions. More pressure to deliver.

Before that happens, August gives us a useful chance to stop and check whether the foundations are still strong.

So I wanted to share five questions I think are worth asking before September:

  1. Is transformation mandate still clear?
  2. Is governance enabling decisions?
  3. Are critical capabilities protected?
  4. Are benefits owned and measurable?
  5. Are project sponsors ready to lead Q4 delivery?

You may already have good answers to some of these.

Others may highlight something worth looking at now, rather than discovering it when Q4 is already moving at full speed.

To help with that, I have brought together three practical resources that you can use depending on where you need support.

Poster of Executive Insight: Workforce Restructuring and Operating Model Implementation E-book

Hello,Workforce restructuring is accelerating. Yet many organisations are making one critical mistake. They reduce headcount before redesigning the operating model. The result? Savings that disappear into contractor spend. Critical knowledge walks out of the door. Decision-making slows. Teams become overloaded. What looked like a cost-saving exercise quickly becomes a false economy. That is why I have written my latest Executive Insight: Workforce Restructuring and Operating Model...

15 Lessons from 15 Years of Building NexGen

Over the past 15 years of building NexGen and through nearly 30 years working in transformation, I have had the opportunity to work with organisations through growth, change, uncertainty and turnaround. Looking back, the lessons that stayed with me did not come from frameworks or methodology. They came from real decisions, difficult moments and the people involved in making change happen. To mark this milestone, I wanted to share the lessons that have shaped how I think about leadership,...

Across organisations, a consistent pattern continues to surface. Transformation rarely slows because of delivery discipline. It slows when project sponsorship is unclear, inconsistent, or not visible in practice. To address this, I have developed a practical scorecard to help organisations measure project sponsorship as a capability. It focuses on five observable dimensions, turning what is often treated as a soft issue into something that can be assessed, strengthened, and managed. The...
